How do I adjust my volume and make sure it's not muted?

To adjust your volume controls in Mac OS X, go to your System Preferences and find the Sound settings.
- Go to your Apple Menu > System Preferences.
- Click the Sound icon under Hardware.
- At the bottom of the Sound Effects window, use the slider to adjust the Output volume.
- Verify that the Mute checkbox is not checked.
- Close the window.
