How do I adjust my volume and make sure it's not muted?

To adjust your volume controls in Mac OS X, go to your System Preferences and find the Sound settings.

1. Go to your Apple Menu > System Preferences.
2. Click the Sound icon under Hardware.
3. At the bottom of the Sound Effects window, use the slider to adjust the Output volume.
4. Verify that the Mute checkbox is not checked.
5. Close the window.
